  • Metodi di valutazione: Orale
  • Prerequisiti: Fundamentals of networking, TCP/IP protocols basics.
  • Obiettivi: Networking architectures and devices have been revolutionized by the Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization paradigms. The Software Network course analyzes the enabling technologies for these two paradigms. In particular the following topics are considered: the Linux networking architecture and the different approaches for packet processing in a Linux software router; the SDN abstractions and models; the methodologies and tools for defining and implementing APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) in Sofware Networks. The course includes a module on the application of Machine Learning to network monitoring. The theoretical concepts are applied in a number of hands-on lectures based on the Python programming language. A learning outcome is the capability of using Python to develop prototypes of SDN/NFV components and to analyze network monitoring data with machine learning tools.
